About Greg Benz

I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Minneapolis.  My style has developed with 10 years of experience.  I first picked up the camera in a serious way back in 2000 when I was living in London.  My interest in documenting my travels quickly turned into a love for photography.  I've never received formal training in photography, I've developed my style and technique through working with numerous other photographers, reading every book and magazine I can get my hands on, and shooting literally hundreds of thousands of photographs.  I would define my artistic style as focused on telling personal stories with the use of dramatic lines and light.

Thank you for checking out my work!,

Frozen Minneapolis

Frozen Minneapolis

Man was this a cold shot!  An hour of standing around on a night when it was about 5 degrees with a breeze, and I was kneeling in snow to set up the camera.  Thankfully I had a hat, ski jacket, sweater, double layer gloves (fingerless for warmth and thin gloves underneath so I could work the camera), a scarf, and long underwear.  My fingers were on fire when they got back in the warmth!

In this picture from left to right, the buildings are Target Plaza (blue rim), IDS Center (white flat line across the top), Wells Fargo (orange), AT&T (looks like asparagus in the daylight), and 225 S. Sixth (with the halo).  The square in the center is Orchestra Hall and Peavy Plaza bordered by Nicollet Ave on the left (with the holiday lights).

February 10, 2009 - 7:04 pm Jacob - What a beautiful photo. Minneapolis has changed a little bit since I went to high school there in 1954! Still get nostalgic seeing the old girl, though.
